Call for Applicants for Arts Integrated Magnet School Naming Committee

On February 14, 2012, the Alameda Board of Education ratified and approved four program proposals, one of which is the Global Education through the Arts Magnet that will be placed at the Washington Elementary Site. On February 28, 2012, an overview was provided to the Board around the process to change the name of Washington Elementary.

A key component of naming the new Arts Integrated Magnet School is to convene a naming committee. The naming committee serves as an advisory group that consists of 15 members that will be appointed to review name suggestions and submit recommendations for the Board’s consideration following Board Policy and Administrative Regulation 7310. The naming committee is expected to meet three times: April 14, April 23, and April 28.

Applications to serve on the Arts Integrated Magnet School Naming Committee are available at the school sites or online at AUSD’s homepage, http://www.alameda.k12.ca.us/, under the “latest news” section. Completed applications must be received in the Office of the Assistant Superintendent no later than March 16, 2012. Appointees will be named on March 27, 2012.
